Let’s talk about hair!

Calling all moms that have little girls and big girls. Today I’m gonna talk about hair! I am just so grateful that I have a little girl.  Having so many boys she keeps me grounded and sane.  The hairstyle for todays hot weather here in good ol Wisconsin is the front & back french braid bun (or that is what we like to call it).

If it is called something else please let me know.  The kids have been swimming a lot so far this summer.  This hairstyle holds up with all the running, jumping, sliding, and under water play.  Not that she dives right in but she sure gives is a good try!  The boys on the other hand are crazy and do the dive and slide across the pool even naming them.  One of them is called, “The tough old grandpa jump” & “The together jump” lol.

Next time I will do a tutorial on how to do the look.  I have never done a tutorial before but I will give it a shot 🙂 .  I have mad a page called Cute As A Button on Facebook which features all Cailet’s hairstyles from preschool all the way up until now.  Even bows that I occasionally make and sell but, I haven’t made any bows recently.  I have even had people challenge me on Facebook to see if I could do the style.  It’s a lot of fun!  If you would like me to make any certain hair tutorial just ask and I will give it a go.  Here is the link to my Cute As A Button page.  https://www.facebook.com/cuteasabuttonheadbandsandjewelry?ref_type=bookmark

Summer Time

SO summer is here yay! and if you’re a busy mom like me, keeping your kids entertained can sometimes feel impossible.  As moms we don’t want our kids to sit on their butts and play games all the time.  We want them to use their imaginations, craftiness, and play whether it be alone or with others.  Well I was scrolling through Pinterest as I always do at night and found a recipe for ” Moon Sand”.  I was drawn in immediately because my 4-year-old like many 4 year olds love to dig.  He is as bad as a squirrel burying nuts.

Speaking about nuts let me get off subject for a second.  I went to water my garden the other day and I look down to find that a squirrel had replaced my yellow bean seed with a GIANT walnut hahahaha!!  I called my husband over and immediately he starts cracking up laughing saying, ” He was just trying to help you out”.  Oh my gosh, thanks hun lol.

Any who back on track. So i pinned this site http://happyhooligans.ca/cloud-dough/.  The next morning we went and got the Tupperware, ingredients, and made it.  HUGE success and not just with my 4-year-old but with the older ones as well! But with the large containers i had gotten we doubled the recipe.  The kids used their moon dough toys they already had and some sand buckets. Perfect!  The baby oil in the flour makes your hands really soft as well 🙂  So funny story, within an hour of playing with it i had to take a short bathroom break (Wrong move mom! who said you could pee).  I come back and BAM!! Phoenix ( My 4-year-old) had his whole head covered in it  *face palm*.  Phoenix told the other two boys Raine (10) & Zaeden (8) to bury his head.  My reaction: looked at him, turned around to quietly laugh, turn back to reprimand the two older boys for listening to a 4-year-old. I had only wished I had taken a picture of it. So I hosed it out of his hair and after it had all washed out and dried was super soft lol.

Later that day I was hopping in and out of the house cooking and keeping an eye on the kids as dad was fixing his truck. Phoenix yet again got himself into a pickle with the moon sand. My husband calls me to the door and when I looked, Phoenix was covered from head to toe because he was wet when he got back into it lol!  Dad took him and gave him a quick shower. By the way Phoenix is constantly doing something (playing in the mud, jumping off chairs, and getting into things) Grandpa doesn’t call him slick for nothing.

Ok my pro’s and cons of this “Moon Sand”

PRO

*Keeps kids of all ages busy

*Very simple to make without breaking the bank

*Shapes more easily than sand

CON

*Children that are wet don’t mix well with it lol (I know common sense)

Kids say this is a thumbs up and love it!

MOON SAND RECIPE:

8 Cups of flour

1 Cup baby oil

Mix well.

*I don’t get paid in any way shape or form to review this, but Happy Hooligans is a great site! I am also not affiliated with no one, just a happy mom doing happy crafts 🙂
